Fresno St. AD Tumey leaves school after 6 years



FRESNO, Calif. — Fresno State has introduced that athletic director Terry Tumey will probably be leaving the college after six years.

Fresno State president Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval mentioned Thursday that the 2 sides had “mutually agreed” to the choice. Rob Acunto will function interim athletic director.

“I sincerely respect Terry’s six years of devoted service to Fresno State and the help he has offered to our campus, group, and most significantly, to our student-athletes,” Sandoval mentioned in an announcement. “We want Terry all the perfect for a satisfying future.”

Tumey started his tenure in August 2018 and employed Kalen DeBoer as head soccer coach in 2020. He then introduced again Jeff Tedford after DeBoer left to take the head-coaching job at Washington following the 2021 season.

Tumey mentioned in an announcement on social media that it was an honor to carry the job and he was grateful for the chance.

“I need to provide my sincerest appreciation to all the student-athletes, coaches, workers members, and supporters for his or her efforts to push Fresno State athletics ahead throughout my tenure,” he mentioned. “We have now confronted and defeated many challenges. And though a lot stays to be completed, I depart with confidence that our contributions have made a optimistic impression on the lives of others.”

Acunto has been at Fresno State since final August. He was the deputy director of athletics earlier than taking on as interim AD. He had been athletic director at Presbyterian Faculty earlier than coming to Fresno State.
